Thing to do and make in the summer hols - Idea No.1

I am of course looking forward to spending 6 summery weeks - all day everyday with my children. But I thought I might post a few ideas for things to do with children over the next month or so, just to break it up a little bit!
When we are not in Florence Park we shall be trying out these ideas from this brilliant website http://www.minieco.co.uk/

Firstly....

Have a little snack....

Then make this?

A Little bit of Florence Park History

We have some wonderful pictures of Florence Park from the late 1940s on the Friends website . The planting in the park was established but in its infancy. It is fascinating to see how the park used to be.
Follow the link to see lots more pictures

We LOVE Summer in Florence Park!

Photo Exhibition and Summer Fete.

We are very excited because as the competition nears the finish line, we are starting to organise the fabulous exhibition of all the brilliant pictures you have entered and to celebrate 'Parks Week' too, the exhibition will be accompanied by a little fete.

A bouncy castle, a little music, nice cup of tea and cake, and lots of kids activities for you all to come and enjoy and most importantly the winning photographers will be announced and awarded their prizes!

We can't wait, hopefully see you there.

The Frogs

The tadpoles are now frogs but only just , even though it has been 16 weeks they are still very tiny. Look out for them by the bridges, but watch where you tread!

A little crafty idea for kids - Number 1

Here at 'Friends of Florence Park' HQ we thought it might be nice to post a series of crafty projects for you and your kids to have a look at, so to start us off..

 Florence Park stick people pictures........

When you next pop to the park take a little bag and get collecting. A few sticks, feathers, snail shells and leaves of different colours and shapes are perfect. When you get home draw a little person on a piece of paper and dress them up with all the bits you have collected. Its worth checking snail shells  - our hat didn't hang around to see the finished ensemble!

Florence is covered in a light frost this morning on the school run!
The grass is crunching and the trees are sparkling just a little.

Very much hoping for a coat of snow tomorrow but here's some pics of today.
